Dr. Liana Hwang, a first-year family medicine resident, hosts this week’s Grand Rounds. She presents a unique twist to the weekly tradition by paralleling the solar system to the “medical blogging universe”. Planets and constellations each represent a particular subject. For instance, the Pluto category includes all submissions related to the recent Virginia Tech tragedy. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the constellation of corona borealis comprises the more light-hearted articles. As for On The Wards, our article about the recently published meta-analysis, examining the efficacy of chondroitin sulfate use for arthritis, was classified under Mercury. Mercury represents the “up-to-date, current information about scientific and technological happenings in the medical field.” That works.
This is Dr. Hwang’s first-time hosting Grand Rounds and she has done an excellent job!
