About

On The Wards (OTW) is a medical blog devoted to diverse topics related to medicine, medical education, and health care. The posts are authored by a physician, but the intended audience includes both clinicians and the general public. The motivation for this project primarily stems from a professional interest in academic medicine. I have no elaborate mission statements or defined [learning] objectives for this forum–at least, not yet. I nonetheless hope to use this blog as a medium for educational enrichment and leisurely reading, as I feature clinical tidbits, research study results, HIPAA-compliant anecdotes, and pertinent commentaries.

Given my hectic schedule, the frequency of posts on OTW will not resemble that of the typical blog. New entries will appear whenever the stars of time and motivation align. As much as I will try to keep the information fresh, please do not expect daily or even weekly entries (I know, I just shot myself in the foot vis-à-vis maintaining readership).

OTW was born on January 8, 2006 on Blogger.com, after much initial resistance from me to partake in the blogging fad. Enamored by the Wordpress blogging software, I decided to transfer the site to another blog host (Blogsome.com) a few days later. Unfortunately, there were many feature limitations at the host, so I moved OTW yet again in March 2007. The current server provides me with control over the installation and upgrade of the Wordpress engine.

OTW is privately funded by myself. I have no commercial affiliation with any sponsors that may appear in this blog. Please read the disclaimer for more legal mumbo-jumbo.

Contact Information: If you would like to leave a private comment or submit an article, I may be contacted at on the wards at gmail dot com.
